With the NFL Draft and phase one of free agency well past us there are still some free agents that the Green Bay Packers should target in the remainder of the offseason.
Adrian Amos
Adrian Amos remains to be one of the top options available in free agency after playing out his contract with the Packers. There hasn’t been much reported mutual interest between Amos and the Packers but a return to Green Bay would make sense.
Green Bay could use the depth at safety and Amos provides a veteran presence as well as a player who knows the system already. He was also a captain on the team which showed the leadership role he had on the team. The Baltimore Ravens have expressed some interest in Amos but it remains to be seen on what he’ll do.
DeAndre Hopkins
DeAndre Hopkins to the Packers would be a dream scenario for fans and would be an absolute home run signing for Green Bay. It is very unlikely that the Packers even target Hopkins due to their cap situation and the fact that Hopkins wants around $15 million and would like to play for an immediate contender.
What Hopkins would bring to the table is a veteran who the young receivers could learn from as well as superstar talent and a player who’d definitely elevate Jordan Love. The Packers should give Hopkins a look but the chances of this actually happening are very slim.
Justin Houston
Justin Houston is coming off a pretty underrated year where he recorded 9.5 sacks and an interception for the Ravens. He is also 34 years of age and can be entering the twilight of his career soon. Houston had a great season considering his age for a pass rusher and can provide immediate depth for Green Bay.
He’d immediately slide into the rotation which the chance to start considering Rashan Gary is still rehabbing. He could also be a mentor for first round pick, Lukas Van Ness, and teach him a lot. Houston may be looking at a return to Baltimore but if the Packers can make an offer they should target the veteran pass rusher.
Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy Bridgewater remains to be one the better quarterbacks left on the free agency market. At this point it’s looking like he’d be taking another backup role and it’d make perfect sense for the Packers. Other then Love, the only other quarterbacks on the roster are Danny Etling and rookie Sean Clifford.
Bridgewater would likely be the immediate backup and would be very serviceable if Love were to go down. He has also played Green Bay a decent amount of times during his time with the Vikings. If the price is right, the Packers should get some more experience in the QB room and get Teddy Two Gloves.
