With the 58th pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Packers selected Javon Bullard from Georgia.

The Packers came into today with 2 picks in the second round of the draft.

The Packers traded down earlier in the second round of the NFL Draft and gained another 2 picks in the 5th and 6 rounds.

They took taking Edgerrin Cooper with their first 2nd round pick.

Analysis

Bullard is a good safety with good field awareness that most NFL teams are looking for.

He has good route recognition skills and can read and react to a receivers actions.

Furthermore, when it comes to run support Bullard can attack blockers and will accelerate through targets as a tackler.

Bullard was a vital piece to the Georgia secondary.

He started at the nickel back position during Georgia 2022 national championship run and moved to safety in 2023.

In three seasons at Georgia Bullard had 114 tackles, 4 interceptions and 12 passes defended.

He also had 8 and 1/2 tackles for losses.

Bullard left Georgia a two time national champion.

He was also named Defensive MVP in the Peach Bowl and National Championship game in the 2022 season.

Team Fit

Going into the draft the Packers had a glaring need in their secondary at Safety after starting safeties Rudy Ford, Darnell Savage and Jonathan Owen all left via free agency.

Bullard will bring much needed depth and help to re-amp the Packers secondary which is going through a major overhaul with new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

With his speed and route recognition though Bullard will be a great fit for Hafley’s defense.

Bullard will likely be competing for the other safety spot opposite new signee Xavier McKinney.

Bullard will be joining fellow Georgia teammates Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt and Eric Stokes.
