A 28-point win over the San Francisco 49ers doesn’t usually happen when matching up with the Green Bay Packers, but Lambeau Field was quite the unfriendly confines in this NFC matchup. While San Francisco was down a few key players, the Packers 38-10 win shows that maybe, just maybe, they won’t have to worry about this NFC team in the playoffs this year.

It was the Josh Jacobs show on Sunday, as the former Raiders running back found the end zone three times in the win. Not much was asked of Jordan Love in Green Bay’s eighth win of the year, helping keep him fresh for the final stretch towards the playoffs.

Offense

Love only threw for 163 yards and two scores, connecting with Tucker Kraft and Malik Heath for touchdowns. A 13/23 showing with two sacks doesn’t really give Love a ton of credit for working within Matt LaFleur’s game plan, but the fact that Love did not throw an interception (the first game all season without an INT) shows how many levels this offense has.

Jacobs was the workhorse back that this team desperately needed, racking up 106 yards on 26 carries in the win. Jacobs found the end zone from one yard out on three separate occasions, the beneficiary of short drives, which included two that started on their opponent’s side.

Romeo Doubs, who was ruled out of Sunday’s win after suffering a concussion, led all Green Bay receivers with three catches for 54 yards. Doubs, Jayden Reed, Kraft, and Heath all hauled in two or more passes from Love in a game that didn’t ask a lot of the passing game.

Defense

Green Bay Packers

With Brock Purdy out for the Niners, it was Brandon Allen who stepped in as the backup, and the Green Bay defense gave him fits. While Allen did throw for 199 yards and a touchdown, he fumbled twice (losing one) and threw an interception (although it wasn’t his fault), accounting for two of their three turnovers.

Christian McCaffrey was shut down on his 14 touches, only racking up 68 total yards while fumbling late in the contest. George Kittle paced the offense for the Niners, catching all six of his targets for 82 yards and the lone TD.

Xavier McKinney recorded his sixth interception of the season, the second-highest number in the NFL, and both Quay Walker and Javon Bullard racked up seven tackles, leading the defense. Lukas Van Ness and Rashan Gary recorded the only two sacks of Allen, with Van Ness forcing a fumble that was recovered by Kenny Clark.

Next up for Green Bay is a short week, as they will play host to the Miami Dolphins for the night game on Thanksgiving, so make sure you prep a night cap to stay up after all of your calories for your Thanksgiving meal.
