Last year the Packers struck gold in Free Agency .

But with the Free Agent market opening in March the Packers have some decisions to make.

Especially on Free Agents of their own.

Some players contracts are up and are looking for new deals.

While other are looking for a fresh start.

Then there are some that have questions marks on whether or not they will be dawning the Green and Gold next year.

Let take a look at who the Packers are looking to keep and who the Packers are letting go in the Free Agent market.

Release/Let go

This might be a shock to some, but it might not be to others.

Jaire Alexander has been in and out of the Packers starting line up for the past two years.

In 2024 Alexander played only 7 games during the season battling injuries to his knee.

In 2023 he battled injuries as well and only played 7 games during that season as well.

When healthy Alexander is one of the best corners in the league.

But with questions about his availability and the amount that he is being paid the Packers could be better off moving on from Alexander.

The Pro Bowl Cornerback has two years remaining on a four year, 84 million dollars contract.

The Packers could clear up nearly $6.8 million in salary cap space for 2025 if they release him before June 1st.

If the Packers release him after June 1st they will clear 17 million in cap space.

Needless to say, letting Alexander go into Free Agency may save the Packers money in cap space.

It can also let the Packers spend money on finding his replacement.

Re-sign

Josh Myers is a possible candidate to re-sign to the Packers roster.

Myers has been the Packers center since he was drafted by the Packers in 2021.

While he has not played up to the level that people expected him to play at when he was first draft, he’s been a serviceable center for the Packers.

Without Myers in the lineup the Packers struggled.

Letting him go in Free Agency would cause problems for a Packers offensive line that has gelled together.

Myers has shown he is the anchor of the line and finding his replacement would be hard.

The Packers can resign Myers for cheap or sign him to a prove it one year deal.

Must Re-sign

Bonus!

There is one possible Free Agent on the Packers roster that the Packers must re-sign.

The one player is Brandon McManus.

A surprise pick-up during the season, McManus help the Packers and their kicking game, which was struggling big time.

Between former Packers kickers Anders Carlson and Brayden Narveson, 18 field goals and extra points were missed.

McManus made 50 of 51 field goal and extra point attempts in 11 regular-season games with the Packers.

The Packers struggled to find the replacement to Mason Crosby after they decided to move on from him and it seems like they have found the answer in another veteran in McManus.

The Packers don’t want to go through another phase of trying to find a kicker.

Therefore, the Packers must resign McManus to avoid that phase.

Conclusion

The Packers have some key decision to make before Free Agency starts.

While some Packer Fans are looking forward to who the Packers will sign during the period.

There should be focus on who the Packers will retain on the team.

There are some players that will be out on the market, while there will be some staying with the team.

Whatever the case, the decisions on who the Packers will retain and let go will determine whether or not the Packers go big in Free Agency in 2025.
