Historically there are not many franchises better than the Packers at drafting and developing the offensive line. In my opinion, the offensive line is most crucial in executing a solid game plan.

This past season, the Packers took Jordan Morgan, a lineman out of Arizona. Normally, the team hasn’t taken an offensive lineman in the first round. However, Morgan’s athletic profile and traits fit perfect for the team.

Morgan’s rookie year was hindered by injury. Before injury, he was rotating at guard with Sean Rhyan another Packers draft pick in development. The potential is clear, and a second-year step from Morgan is important for the line overall.

The Packers also normally do not spend big money on an offensive line free agent. However, they made Aaron Banks the exception, signing him to a lofty contract. While Banks has been a pretty consistent guard, it surprised many as it isn’t a common move the Packers have made.

Overall, this team has options when it comes to building the offensive line and keeping Jordan Love protected. Here is the most likely lineup and an outlook on the season ahead.

Finding the Best Starting Five for the Packers

While the Packers are great at drafting and developing the line, some of the decision making in past seasons has been questionable.

During the Packers playoff game versus the 49ers in 2021, puzzling decisions were made on the starting lineup. The last-minute changes were criticized by many and became paramount in the 13-10 loss.

Josh Myers is out at starting center, signing a one-year 3.5-million-dollar contract with the New York Jets. While Myers had comradery with Jordan Love, his performance was not enough to keep him.

With the signing of Aaron Banks, it is most likely that he will replace Elgton Jenkins as the starting left guard. Per Tom Silverstein’s reporting, Jenkins will move to be the starting center. Jenkins has versatility and has played center before.

Sean Rhyan will most likely continue to play right guard. With Zach Tom, who is one of the best starting tackles in the league staying at right tackle. Tom is also due for an extension, which he has rightfully earned.

The final spot is at left tackle. Rasheed Walker, a seventh-round draft pick, has been a solid return on investment. While he hasn’t been a star, he has been good enough to start. It is yet to be seen if Jordan Morgan and Walker will be competing for the starting left tackle job.

Overall, the Packers have plenty of options and will have big decisions to make. Getting the starting five right is important for the offense to succeed. Now, we will look to the draft to see where the Packers can add to get the best offensive line possible.
