Another week of training camp has been completed. The Packers even held the famous family night this past Saturday. With more football, comes more updates. Here are some Packers training camp updates and highlights since last week.

Injuries

The Packers have seemed to do well overall so far with avoiding any major injuries, knock on wood. Despite no major injuries, there are still a few players dealing with nagging injuries.

Arguably the most concerning injury is safety Xavier McKinney‘s calf. After Wednesday’s practice, McKinney was seen sitting out Thursday. It is now being reported that McKinney is likely to miss the remainder of camp, as well as all of the preseason games.

McKinney stated, “Obviously glad that we caught it when we caught it, so just kind of trying to take it slow and then the build-up, obviously. But I’ll be ready when it’s time to go, for sure.”

So, everyone take a deep breath. McKinney seemed optimistic about his availability for the season opener. On the opposite side of the ball, it seems the wide receiver room has been dealing with quite a few injuries.

Jayden Reed is dealing with a foot injury and Dontayvion Wicks is battling a calf injury. Center Elgton Jenkins is new to the injury list and is battling a back injury.

As reported last week, running back MarShawn Lloyd has been dealing with a groin injury. He still is not full go but was spotted doing some individual cutting drills at practice yesterday. So, he seems to be making good progress.

Tackle Travis Glover was placed on injured reserve due to shoulder injury, ending his 2025 season.

It also seems that wide receiver Christian Watson, who tore his ACL in week 18 of the 2024 season, is making good strides in his recovery. Watson has reached a point in recovery in which he can run at 100% when running straight. He has also been running routes, just not at full speed quite yet.

“Once I feel like I’m 100 percent, I’m going to tell them I feel like I’m ready to go, and then whenever they let me go, I’m going.” It seems his recovery is going better than expected thus far.

Studs

It seems Jordan Love had quite the day on Thursday. With a few touchdown passes to Golden, Doubs and one to Kraft even though it was called back, Love seemed to be dialed in. The offense even ran a speed option and Love kept it himself and scored.

With a healthy knee and more confidence in his running ability, let’s hope Love runs a bit more this year when given the opportunity during games.

On Tuesday, Love found Romeo Doubs for a 55-yard touchdown pass.

From reports, it seems rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden continues to impress. The rookie made an excellent diving grab for the touchdown Thursday. Golden beat Javon Bullard in the redzone for another touchdown grab later on.

When asked who the most impressive Packer’s newcomer was, Jordan Love replied “Matthew Golden” with no hesitation. He added “He’s going to be a stud. Very aggressive route hands, smooth route runner, he’s got speed.”

Once again, it’s hard not to be excited about the Love to Golden connection. I think there is a lot of potential for the rookie to make a lot of noise this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, it seems corner back Keisean Nixon has had a good week. On Wednesday, Nixon brought the heat against Matthew Golden, logging multiple pass breakups against the rookie.

Josh Jacobs seems to be getting involved in both the run game and the pass game. Jacobs seemed to produce his usual magic this past week, making something out of nothing during several carries. Once again, I think Jacobs heavily propels this offense again this year.

Kicker Brandon McManus continues to impress and prove himself as a reliable option. During two separate two-minute drills, McManus won the game for the offense. One of those wins came from a 57 yarder that he absolutely nailed. Overall, McManus has made 47 of his 51 attempted field goals in camp, truly impressive.

Bo Melton, who was moved from wide receiver to corner back, seems to be adjusting well. It will be interesting to watch Melton in the preseason games as he transitions his game from the offensive side of the ball to the defensive side.

It seems the Packers will have their starters playing for a few series against the Jets in the first preseason game. A good opportunity to put it all together in real time.
