The Green Bay Packers have already played 2 games since my last article. Suffice it to say my hopes of a Super Bowl or bust season are gasoline drenched and the fire is lit.
Accurate picture of Packers fans seeing this team cook:

The Packers are entering a mini BYE after beating the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football. The biggest threat at the moment seems to be the injury bug.
Week 1 – The Lions Are Tamed

The Green Bay Packers disposed of the Lions in convincing fashion in Week 1. Lions’ Head Coach, Motor City Dan Campbell, had no answer for Jordan Love’s ability to spread the ball around, nor for the effect of Micah Parsons on the Packers’ defense.

This game gave us everything we ever wanted out of our defense. We were also treated to the Green Bay Packers getting a fast start bolstered by their lights out defensive play as Jordan Love hit 10 different receivers and had 16 completions on 22 attempts for 188 yards. He would end up netting 2 touchdowns, and a passer rating of 128.6.
The bigger story was that stout offensive line. Jordan had all day to find those receivers, and the serious drop off in pre-snap penalties was very noticeable. The Packers had only 1 penalty for holding in Week 1.

However, the Packers would end up losing RT Zach Tom and LG Aaron Banks to injury.
In fact here was the Packers that came out of Week 1 as new additions to the injury report according to Packers Wire.
RT Zach Tom (oblique)
LG Aaron Banks (groin/ankle)
WR Matthew Golden (ankle)
DE Brenton Cox Jr. (groin)
CB Bo Melton (shoulder)
P Daniel Whelan (right knee)
The Packers in the end got the “W” and sights were set on the Commanders
Packers Commanding Respect From Washington

Entering Thursday night 5 days removed from playing the Lions, the narrative quickly shifted around the league. The Packers have been catapulted to the top of Power Rankings for seemingly every podcast and pundit conversation. Though, I once again watched as the goal post got moved by some due to the Lions having 2 new coordinators. I heard a lot of folks asking the same question.
Should we be more impressed with the Packers Win or concerned about the Lions abilities?
Last night J-Love and company said hold my beer and put on this display to shut them up.

Washington Commanders vs Green Bay Packers Game Highlights | 2025 NFL Season Week 2
For a second time in 5 days the Packers bullied a credible playoff threat team. In fact, the Packers made history by becoming the first team to start 2–0 by beating two different playoff teams from the previous season in consecutive weeks.
However, the difference this week being absent Tom and Banks was very noticeable. Jordan faced much more pressure in the pocket, but thankfully it just meant that he got to display his ability to scramble and run downfield.
Unfortunately, despite another convincing victory, Game 2 would also take Jayden Reed away with a collarbone injury that likely will have him out for a substantial amount of time.
Staying Healthy On the Long Road Ahead

I am just as stoked as everyone else in Packer Nation. I think this is the team we’ve been waiting for the last few years as these rookies have grown together. Not to mention, Micah Parsons is still ramping up, so the fact that we haven’t seen him at 100% yet has to be terrifying for opposing offenses.
The biggest question is how healthy this squad will be as the season progresses.
Here’s the noteable injuries left for the Packers coming out of Week 2:
- Jayden Reed (WR): Broke his collarbone during a touchdown play that was negated by penalty in the first quarter of the Week 2 win. He is expected to miss 6-8 weeks and has been placed on the injured reserve list.
- Aaron Banks (LG):Suffered an ankle and groin injury and was inactive for the Week 2 game.
- Zach Tom (RT): Torn oblique muscle and was also inactive for the Week 2 game.
- Bo Melton (CB):Ruled out with a shoulder injury for the Week 2 game.
- Brenton Cox Jr. (DE):Was on the injury report with a groin injury and was also out for the game, being placed on injured reserve.
This mini BYE followed by the early BYE in Week 5 may end up being a god send to get this Packers team healthy. The offensive line was certainly depleted last night and we all remember how much that hurt the Packers last year in the playoffs.

This is a long season, and even longer when there’s a deep playoff run in the mix. In my mind this is a Super Bowl caliber team, the biggest question is can we avoid the injury bug and rely on depth to get us back to the promised land?
