The Green Bay Packers will enter the 2026 NFL season with a new starting left tackle. With Rasheed Walker leaving in free agency, the Packers are handing the keys to former first round pick Jordan Morgan. Morgan will be tasked with an offensive lineman’s toughest and more important job, protecting QB Jordan Love’s blindside. Morgan will be entering his third season and with the first round selection tagged to his name, it is time for him to shine.

The Packers selected Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. During his rookie season, Morgan dealt with a handful of injuries and never really stayed healthy. During the 2025 campaign, the Packers were confident that Rasheed Walker could do the job. Walker ultimately struggled with. Green Bay tried to get Morgan on the field at the guard position but he struggled there. When Zach Tom hurt his knee against the Broncos, which put Tom on the shelf for the rest of the season, Morgan stepped in at RT.

In Week 16 & 17 of the 2025 season, Jordan Morgan started at RT for Zach Tom. In those two games, he allowed one sack and three total pressures. In Week 17, against the Ravens, Morgan had a 83.6 pass-blocking grade PFF grade, which is considered to be “excellent”. When the Packers played Morgan at guard, Morgan had a 64.3 PFF pass-blocking grade. His build, foot work, and skillset is built for a tackle.

Packers Jordan Morgan Has a Big Offseason Ahead

Packers

The Packers for years now love to cross train their offensive linemen. Green Bay wants versatile linemen who can play multiple positions. The Packers used this strategy with Jordan Morgan, simply to try to get him on the field because of Tom and Walker, and it did not work so well. Morgan’s attributes are designed for a tackle. Now, that Rasheed Walker is gone, Morgan can spend the offseason solely focused on playing left tackle.

It is a big time adjustment from college football to the NFL alone. It is even bigger adjustment for a player who is asked to learn multiple positions and develop a skillset to play different positions. As a result, it is a lot for a younger player to grasp. For example, Jordan Morgan spent half his time playing LT and the other half playing RG during training camp last summer. It is expected that Morgan will be spend his time solely focused on left tackle this summer which should help his development.

Given the recent news that Rasheed Walker signed a one year deal with the Carolina Panthers for right around $4 million, the Packers must believe that Morgan is capable of holding down the left tackle job. The pressure will be on because Green Bay is in “win now” mode and they cannot afford to have a former first round pick fall short. Jordan Morgan’s first two seasons were not much to brag about but now he as a chance to prove himself and become the reliable, sturdy left tackle that Green Bay has been searching since David Bakhtiari’s release.
