The NFL draft for the Packers was a successful one, helping the team cover some of its needs.

Most of the help on defense as the team transitions from Jeff Hafleys Defense to Jonathan Gannon’s defense.

But with only 6 picks made in the draft the Packers still have some holes to fill.

Now that the dust has settled on the NFL draft, we can look at where the Packers need help.

Offensive help

Packers

As stated earlier the Packers spent most of their draft picks on the defense.

In fact of the 6 picks made 4 of them were on the defensive side.

The other two were on the offensive line and special teams.

Jager Burton was the lone offensive pick for the Packers.

While Burton can help the offensive line with his versatility, the depth of the line is still a little weak.

One of the positions the Packers could use a free agent or two on is on the line.

As of right now the top reserve lineman would be Darian Kinnard.

But behind Kinnard is a lot of inexperience, so if Kinnard goes down, it might be a puzzle for the Packers to figure out.

Running Back help

I wrote last week about the possible need for the Packers to draft a running back.

As it turned out, the Packers didn’t draft a running back at all during the draft.

There is some question about the positions depth after the departure of Emanuel Wilson.

As of right now Chris Brooks is the number two back, but there are still questions marks with the running backs the Packers currently have.

With the Packers not drafting a running back it seems like the team has some sort of belief that Marshawn Llyod will be able to shake off his injury bug.

I wouldn’t be surpised though if the Packers bring in a veteran or a change of pace back for Josh Jacobs, if Llyod doesn’t work out.

Definitely a position to keep an eye out on as training camp nears.

Quarterback

While Jordan Love is for sure the starting QB, there is questions on who is his back up.

Love has missed at-least one game the last two seasons but Malik Willis showed that he is capable of being a starting QB in the NFL.

Hence the reason why he was one of the hottest free agents in 2026.

Willis signed with the Miami Dolphins re-uniting him and former Packers Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley.

This left the Packers with the question of who will be Jordan Love’s back-up.

The team didn’t go out and draft a QB, but they did sign a QB as an un-drafted free agent.

Kyron Drones of Virginia Tech signed with the Packers as an un-drafted free agent.

He’ll have a chance to battle for the number two spot which at this point is wide open.

As of now, Desmond Riddler, who was picked up late last season is the number two QB.

This is another position where I wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers brought in some one as a free agent.

Conclusion

The NFL Draft can help a team build depth and also fill needs teams may have.

But sometimes, the NFL draft doesn’t fill all the needs teams have.

For the Packers the draft helped with their depth but they still have some holes to fill.

They have all their starters in place, there is no question.

But the depth of the team is questionable as of now.

GM Brian Gutekunst has always found a way to fill out the Packers back end of the roster.

There is always the Free agent period from training camp to the beginning of the season that can help the teams depth.

That will certainly be an option the Packers have to fill those needs if needed.
