The Green Bay Packers (2-2) have a bounce back opportunity on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders (1-3). Davante Adams will be playing his first ever game against Green Bay since he was traded from them. It’s an opportunity for the Packers to get back in the win column and grab a much needed victory.
Taking Advantage
The Green Bay Packers have an opportunity to steal a win on the road against a Raiders team that hasn’t been too hot. They are currently riding a three-game losing streak and Green Bay must take full advantage of that. While the Packers are coming off a tough loss, they must win games like these to remain competitive.
Raiders QB Jimmy Garappolo isn’t at full health and has been dealing with an injury which should give the Packers an advantage. Joe Barry must use this to his advantage and scheme plays that make him uncomfortable while not at full health. It’ll be a huge opportunity for Rashan Gary and this Green Bay pass rush.
Josh Jacobs has also had a rough start to the season averaging only 2.7 yards a carry on 62 carries. While the Packer run defense hasn’t been amazing, this is a chance to take advantage of an offensive line who hasn’t exactly helped their star running back.
Fix First Half Woes
The past couple games for the Green Bay Packers have had a common theme. Their first half play has been abysmal and very flat. Both sides of the ball haven’t looked sharp in the first half, especially the past two games.
In the past two games, the offense has had a total of three points in the first half. They’re being outscored 34-3 and things have not gone their way. They have been able to turn things around in the second half though.
In the past couple games they’ve only allowed seven points in the second half while playing catch-up in both. The coaching staff will need to adjust their play calling and do a better job on both sides of the ball in order for the Green Bay Packers to stay in the game.
A Familiar Face
Playing his first game against the Green Bay Packers since they traded him is star receiver Davante Adams. It’ll be fun for Packers fans to see Adams again, even if it’s not in green and gold. Though Adams won’t get to see his longtime QB Aaron Rodgers, he will get to see many familiar faces.
An interesting one should be CB Jaire Alexander. Alexander has been injured as of late but has a chance to make a return to face his former teammate in what would be a very premier matchup. After many battles in practice as teammates, an Adams vs. Alexander matchup would give fans a real treat.
Adams remains a top receiver in the NFL so the Green Bay Packers should gameplan a little extra for him. They should know some more of his tendencies and his game since he played there for eight years. Davante Adams does have a shoulder injury which could potentially hold him out of the game Monday. That’ll be something to lookout for as the game gets closer.
