Micah Parsons is now a Green Bay Packer.
Even as I type the words, I can’t believe it’s real.

While most of us in Packer Nation dreamed about this prospect, I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say I never thought it’d come to fruition.
Here’s an overview of arguably the most shocking transaction of the 2025 NFL season, and a generational talent landing at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.
Micah Parsons to Green Bay Rumor Mill

The very public divorce of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons fueled speculation for the last few weeks. Between a hold-in and claims of a back injury on Parson’s end, and not so veiled shots taken by Jerry, the buzz about what team would land this All Pro was all the rage with media pundits.
Count myself as someone currently trying to remove their foot from their mouth as I preached it’s impossibility. Yet, day after day, the noise grew louder, and the possibililty became more and more real.
The Deal

NFL Agent, David Mulugheta strikes again, uniting two of his top clients in Micah Parsons and Jordan Love. Here’s the details of this blockbuster trade via NFL insiders.
Micah Parsons is now the highest paid non-quarterback player in NFL history. That $188 million price tag includes $120 million gauranteed money at signing with total gaurantee at $136 million. At $47 million a year I say three cheers to Micah and David for getting this deal done.

As far as the two 1st Round Picks are concerned, good riddance. I am kinda shocked there weren’t more picks included to be honest.
The Packers will likely be in the high 20s if not low 30s for the next few. Even with those 1st round picks it’s doubtful they would have been able to land a talent like Parsons in the 2026 or 2027 draft anyway.
Not to mention, there’s been several outright misses on defense in the last few years.
Final summation?
THE COWBOYS GOT FLEECED!
Good Bye Kenny Clark

The sad note is this deal acts a catalyst for the departure of locker room leader and fan favorite, Kenny Clark. The move makes a lot of sense business wise as Clark is turning 30 in October, and was a potential 2026 cap casualty. However, his presence on and off the field will be akin to last years loss of Aaron Jones in the Xavier McKinney acquisition.
Here’s a statement put out by Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst shortly after the trade was announced.
The Player

Micah Parsons is arguably the best NFL Defensive player right now. At 26 years old the Green Bay Packers have landed a generational talent at a position in dire need of being solidified.
Parsons has been to the Pro Bowl all 4 years of his NFL career, including his rookie year in 2021 when he was also named Defensive Rookie of the Year. Over the last 4 years this game wrecker has tallied 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks, and 9 forced fumbles.

NFL: 17 Minutes of Micah Parsons Highlights
Micah Parsons EDGE
Here’s a tweet I put out yesterday shortly after the trade and seeing the Packers announcement.

I feel like we are going to see a tandem Edge Rusher duo of Rashan “Bane” Gary and Micah Parsons while Edgerrin Cooper, Quay Walker, and McDuffie hold down the Linebacker room.
I expect to see a large jump from Colby Wooden to fill the void left by Kenny Clark. Wooden has been impressing all through training camp. He and 3rd year player Devonte Wyatt should do just fine, though it will be hard to not see 97 lining up.

This also takes the pressure off of Lukas Van Ness and Barry Sorrell a bit as they continue to develop. I’ll be interested to see how the Packers rotate in Kingsley Enagbare and Brenton Cox on the edge.
Not to mention, our defensive back room badly needed a pass rusher to take some of the heat off of them.
Ramping Up
There will certainly be a ramp up period while Micah learns Hafley’s playbook, but I would expect to see Parsons on the field next week against Detroit, barring of course the back injury not feeling the best, wink wink, nudge nudge. We’ll see if the rumors were true about this being part of the hold-in.

Green Bay Packers Expectations

The standard is the standard and the goal of this season is the same as every season.
Bring the Lombardi Trophy home!
While my hopes were high coming into next week, with this incredible addition I think most of us in Packer Nation have our eyes firmly set on a Super Bowl victory from the green and gold.
This move harkens back to the age old tradition of giving our stud QB some defensive monsters ahead of a Super Bowl win.
Hell you could even paint it from the GM POV.
The excitement is off the charts right now and I can’t wait to see how Hafley uses the versatility of Micah in his aggressive defensive schemes.
In the last 2 years Gutey has snatched the best saftey in the league, the best pass rusher in the league, and one of the best running backs in the league. I think it may be time to retire the notion of the Packers not making splash moves. Gutey has shown for a few years now he is all in and this move certainly puts the nail in that coffin.
Welcome to Green Bay Micah, and Go Pack Go indeed sir!
