Assuming the Green Bay Packers stick and pick, here is what I believe are the three most likely candidates for each of the Packers’ first three picks. Green Bay are scheduled at picks 23, 54 and 87 in the first three rounds.

Round 1 – Pick 23

Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M

We know the Packers love upside edge rushers. Since Brian Gutekunst took over at GM, he has used his two highest picks on high upside prospects in Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness. Stewart is an elite athlete who scored a 9.99 RAS score which will only entice the Green Bay front office. From Damon Sewell‘s article, the Packer’s first three picks in the draft average RAS score of 8.74. Although Stewart was relatively unproductive in terms of sacks, he was constantly causing chaos in the pocket.

Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

The Packers have not selected a first round receiver since 2002. However, McMillan has drawn extensive interest from the Green Bay brass. Brian Gutekunst was the only GM to attend his private workout. If that wasn’t enough they brought him in for a top 30 visit. McMillan is a unique prospect, and although he has some issues regarding his contested catches against more physical corners, he would add a completely new dimension to the Packers’ wide receiver room.

Derrick Harmon, DL, Oregon

Harmon is one of the top defensive line prospects in this years draft. He generated 5 sacks from the interior and is also a stout run stuffer. With Kenny Clark starting to regress, and Devonte Wyatt unlikely to receive the fifth year option, one of the Packers’ first three picks must address the interior defensive line. Although it is a deep class at the position, don’t be surprised to see the Packers double dip, and take one in the first, before doubling down early on day 3.

Round 2 – Pick 54

Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State

Jayden Higgins has become a draft crush for many over on Packers’ twitter. We know the Packers have had great success drafting receivers in the second round. Higgins averaged 13.6 yards per reception last year on 87 receptions for 1183 yards and 9 TDs. If the Packers fail to land their favourite receiver in the first round, don’t be shocked if they mimic their tactics they used to draft Christian Watson where they traded up to the start of the second round to grab a top outside receiver.

Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State

A teammate of Higgins, Porter is another elite athlete, scoring a 9.99 RAS score. Porter measures over 6 foot and weighs 195 lbs, which fits him perfectly in to the measurements Green Bay loves. With Jaire Alexander expected to be traded before or during the draft, Green Bay could do with some added help outside, and Porter’s height and speed to fill the hole in Jeff Hafley’s defence perfectly.

Shavon Revel Jr., CB, ECU

Revel is a player that has been mocked to the Packers in the first and second rounds. As we have discussed with Porter, the Packers have a need at outside corner, and this should be addressed by the Packers’ first three picks. Revel measures 6’2″ and weighs 194 lbs. He is probably slightly too tall to be taken in the first round by Green Bay’s liking but if he was to fall to them at 54, it would be a no-brainer for GM Brian Gutekunst.

Round 3 – Pick 87

Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State

Yet another Packers twitter draft crush. Royals has a 9.23 RAS and is a twitchy receiver with top end speed and fills that need at outside receiver. Royals has been described as a reliable quick game option, which is just what the Packers need. Giving their franchise QB a reliable third down option will help grow the passing game, as well as allow them to beat the blitz on third down, and prevent some of the horrendous turnovers and play calls we saw on third down in 2024.

Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary

We saw that the Packers struggled to protect the QB once they lost some of their starters during their playoff loss to the Eagles. Adding depth to the position, as well as a competition for Rasheed Walker, should Jordan Morgan move to guard permanently. Adding an athletic tackle who is a top run blocker will only help evolve the Packers run game, and allow Josh Jacobs to spring some more long runs, and limit the amount of times rushers can reach him behind the line of scrimmage. Don’t be surprised if one of the Packers’ first three picks are used along the offensive line.

Shemar Turner, DL, Texas A&M

We have already discussed the need to add an interior defensive linemen with the Packers’ first three picks. Turner is a good athlete who has a developed a few pass rush moves. He currently plays slightly too high, but this would be a similar pick to the Stewart pick where the upside is the motivation, especially if the Packers believe they can lower his pad level, and create a better rushing plan for him.

Overview

In my opinion, the three picks will be:

  • Shemar Stewart
  • Shevon Revel
  • Jaylen Royals

This would still leave the Packers with a need at the interior defensive line position, but the hope would be the players they currently have on the roster will progress with the introduction of a new defensive line coach. There would also still be some depth required on the offensive line. I would expect at least two of the remaining 5 picks to address this.
